I decided to book our trip to Las Vegas through Westjet Vacations. They gave me the option of what Hotels I wanted in the package and I chose the MGM Grand. We went for 4 days which was just enough time for a ‘getaway’ from Canada.
The MGM Grand was excellent. Our room was in the Grand Tower (standard room) and was a typical hotel room for size. The bathroom was large though and had marble floors but the bath/shower showed some wear and tear and age. It was clean though and the bed was very comfortable. We were on the 19th floor and had a view of some of the strip.

MGM Grand Lion in the Lobby
The MGM as a resort Hotel is huge! It takes you well over an hour to walk the place and has all the amenities. The main lobby is spectacular with marble floors and a central fountain and the MGM Golden Lion in the center. There are shops to the left with everything a guest would need while staying there as well as souvenirs to take home. We found it a bit pricey for some of the clothing etc. You pass the lobby and immediately hit the casino area which seems to go on for ever. I am not a gambler but I am sure the MGM has everything a gambler would need including a designated area for Texas holdem poker. My only complaint was the amount of cigarette smoke lingering in the Casino area and my clothes started to smell like cigarettes.
The MGM Grand has a wide selection of Restaurants which include brand name eateries like Wolfgang Puck and Emerils right down to a great deli. I will blog later on specific restaurants but suffice to say, you will not have to leave the MGM to eat ever! There is even a food court with McDonalds and Starbucks.
We took in the Cirque du Soleil show “Ka” at the MGM and it was terrific! I highly recommend it. The MGM Grand also has a variety of other shows as well and I think Howie Mandel was there as well while we were there. Make sure to see the free lion exhibit while you are at the MGM. The weather was a bit cool while we were in Vegas so we did not take in the pools or the spa, but I read they were ranked right up there as the best in Vegas.
All in all, the MGM Grand was great and I would definitely stay thereĀ again. I rate it 4 stars out of 5.
To your next Vegas Trip,
